KNTU is two stations.
What?
In 2022, we went HD with KNTU. (Here’s a great explanation piece about HD on car radios from the Crutchfield electronics retailer.) HD Radio allows us to broadcast more than one format (if that’s too inside a term, think of it as the programming you hear) on the same frequency of 88.1 FM.
I don’t want to get into the weeds here, so I’ll just point out that we’ve got alternative rock on KNTU HD1 and jazz on KNTU HD2. Both stations also stream programming on their respective websites — KNTU HD1 is 88.1 indie and KNTU HD2 is KNTU Jazz (that’s where you are right now).
